Staff at TRPF’s Food for People (FFP) facility in Tasarpu replaced important piping that was damaged in the earthquakes, restoring a water distribution system that serves five surrounding villages. Here’s a look at what happened:
As water supplies dwindled, staff hiked up to the stream that provides water to the Food for People facility and five neighboring villages.
They discovered that the earthquakes had broken pipes and caused the stream to shift course about seven meters outside of holding tanks. Working with volunteers from Premsagar Foundation Nepal, TPRF bought 100 meters of new pipes and repaired the distribution system.
The repairs resumed the flow of water to tanks and distribution points in five villages neighboring the FFP facility.
