Weaving Peace Education into India’s Central Silk Board
Known as the “Queen of Textiles,” silk is a shimmering fabric that often signifies comfort, elegance, and style. The silk industry is a big business in India, and the government’s Ministry of Textiles supports it through a large agency called the Central Silk Board. The Silk Board recently started offering the Peace Education Program (PEP) to employees, with great results.
“The Peace Education Program has not only enabled participants to do self-introspection to discover peace within, but has also made them poised, more organized and systematic in their approach, and relaxed thereafter,” says Dr. B.S. Angadi, the Silk Board’s technical director. “The message in this program is beneficial and essential for all human beings.”
Volunteers with The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) first approached Silk Board managers about offering peace education last year. Seeing great value in the program for employees, the Silk Board management team decided to integrate PEP into its Training and Development Department.
“This was the first PEP in Southern India that was organized with very minimal support from TPRF volunteers,” notes Jyoti Singh, a TPRF volunteer who coordinates PEP in the region.
The Silk Board initially granted 40 employees the opportunity to take the class at its headquarters in the city of Bangalore. Seeing the positive impact it was having, management started offering PEP to more employees at four other offices in Bangalore and the surrounding region. So far, 152 employees have participated, and the organization is considering offering it in more offices in different regions across the country.
The interactive PEP workshops are based on Prem Rawat’s international talks and aim to help participants discover an inner sense of strength and hope. During reflection times throughout the 10-session course, participants shared a range of thoughts on what they were learning.
Here are a few examples of what participants said:
“PEP is helping me to know the real meaning of life. I am thinking deeply about what it means to be a human being.”
“This program simplifies the complicated. Thanks to Mr. Prem Rawat for making his message available in this world.”
“I travel a far distance every day to reach the office, and sometimes I get frustrated seeing how people are driving down the road. It spoils my mood so badly. But after listening to Mr. Prem Rawat, I realized that feeling good inside can take care of it very well. If I feel good inside and somebody wants to cut in front of me, it’s no problem. I must do something every day to feel good from the inside. Then all is well.”
“I like this program because it explains exactly what is missing in this world right now. The message is all true and very practical.”

A soon to be New Album by Chris and Daya
Since Chris and Daya released Envy of Stars in June of last year people have been asking for more. For those of you who have been waiting, it won’t be much longer. We are pleased to announce that Chris and Daya will be recording their second album this spring in Austin Texas, It will be mainly acoustic with not too much distracting form the songs and Chris and Daya’s wonderful vocals. With more time to plan this album, they have been singing together for more than a year, Daya will have a much stronger presence on the new album. I am sure, like me, you are looking forward to it. However, it takes money to make this happen. Getting recognized in a very competitive industry does not happen over night and it takes a lot of support form their fans and friends. For those who have seen and heard them perform or have listened to their CD, there is no question they have got what it takes to make this happen. They are still working hard to promote the Envy of Stars and to bring it to the attention of a wider audience. The new CD will be released on their own label with an aggressive radio promotion effort planned. Everyone with have an opportunity to hear the music from both albums! Chris and Daya are not planning a typical kick-starter type fundraiser for this album. They just want to let their fan know what is happening. Soon we will be adding a “Next Album Support” page to the website with more information and ways in which you can assist. If you want to help move their music forward, and the message it carries, any level of financial support is appreciated. There are also non-financial ways you can help. Spread the word about their music. Envy of Stars on YouTube (complete album) Chris and Daya want to share their music with as many people as possible. They asked me to put the Envy of Stars album on YouTube for all to enjoy. For those of you who own the album you know it’s delight to hear. I’m certainly bias, but to be honest, I never tire of listing to it. Hearing Envy of Stars lifts my spirits. What’s on YouTube is not a music video. It is there for the pleasure of those who wish to listen. It is also a way for Chris and Daya to share their music with a wider audience. Of course Envy of Stars is also available from Chris and Daya’s website, through, CDBaby.com and can be downloaded from your favorite digital service. Please share the link with you family and friends, but if they like the music, encourage them to buy the album :-) Please visit the youtube page and give the album a thumbs up. https://youtu.be/XIeuUpuWT2M |

PEAK
For over five decades, Prem Rawat, widely recognized as the Ambassador of Peace, has traveled the world communicating a simple fact, that peace is possible because it exists within each human being. It is up to each of us to choose peace.
Following the success of videos for inmates in prisons based on Prem’s international addresses, a specifically designed curriculum called the “Peace Education Program” or PEP was launched by the Prem Rawat Foundation in 2012.
Intended for people from all walks of life, this 10-session program has had a powerful impact on thousands of people’s lives in 65 countries all over the globe.
From Correctional facilities to universities, adult education to hospice care, rehabilitation centers to refugees, thousands of people all over the world have benefited from the Peace Education Program, learning about the nature of peace and the inner resources that are available to every human being by virtue of the simple fact that we are alive.
Building on the success of PEP, Prem was inspired to create PEAK, an intimate and thought-provoking program.
This course has been designed to be continually updated with new content and conveniently accessible to anyone who wishes to explore a deeper understanding of human potential.
Regardless of external circumstances, people all over the world have derived benefit from learning about peace from Prem Rawat.
The PEAK program is designed to touch and inspire the humanity within us all.
Whether in a group learning environment or in the comfort and privacy of your own home, PEAK brings you a fresh perspective on the value of life, and the simple joy of appreciating what it means to be alive.
The PEAK program will be available in 2016.

Educating the Heart: Prem Rawat addresses students in Indonesia and Malaysia
During the month of September 2015, Prem Rawat visited Bali, Indonesia for the first time. While delivering the keynote address about peace at a Sitkom University forum, he emphasized that people have the power to find peace in their own lives despite immense societal challenges. Later in the month, he brought a similary profound message of peace to hundreds of students and faculty at Taylor's University in Kuala Lumpur. He said, "Peace comes from the heart. I'm not talking about the thing that pumps blood. Exactly 50% of each human being is bad and exactly 50% is good. That good 50% is what peace is all about. The heart gives us the ability to choose the good."Read more about Malaysia events here. |
